Area 1 Event Riders Needed to Compete at Adult Team Challenge
Riders from beginner novice to preliminary levels encouraged to form teams to compete at The Chronicle of the Horse Eastern Adult Team Challenge in Lexington, Virginia
WELLS, ME, August 15, 2009 /Maine PR News/ -- The Area I Adult Rider Program is seeking individuals to participate in a fun-filled team competition at The Chronicle of the Horse Eastern Adult Team Challenge which will be held October 30 to November 1, 2009 at the Virginia Horse Center in Lexington, Virginia.
Over the years adult amateur riders from throughout the East Coast have engaged in this wonderful team competition that fosters teamwork and camaraderie. In years past Area 1 has fielded several successful teams at novice through preliminary levels. This year, however, organizers have added the beginner novice level to open up the competition to more horses and riders of all abilities. Teams are made up of three-to-four riders. Area 1 will offer small stipends to Adult Rider Program members in good standing.
"This is a wonderful opportunity for our dedicated riders to venture south for a fabulous late-season event in the beautiful Blue Ridge Mountains and experience the sportsmanship offered by this unique team competition. It is our hope that our small stipends will encourage riders to take part and become involved, despite the economy," said Heidi Beaumont, the Area 1 Adult Rider Program Coordinator.
The Virginia Horse Center sports a first-class competition venue nestled in the Blue Ridge Mountains. ATC competitors will enjoy a Welcome Dinner with Guest Speaker Eric Smiley and a competitor bonfire. Often there is a jumping derby that runs simultaneously. The competition culminates in a parade of teams. Teams will be awarded prizes through eighth place with saddle pads and photos awarded by The Chronicle of the Horse to the winners.
